So in the spring of 2006 the Farmer's Market took root under an old oak tree in Historic Downtown Alpharetta in the City Parking Lot behind Smoke Jack Grill.
"We want the market to grow and support our local
farmers," said Janis Gunther of The Cannery. The Market is open to farmers, gardeners, and makers of edible home
goods.
In 2006 the Farmer's Market was held bi-weekly through the fall growing season and included seasonal plants and flowers. Due to its success, in 2007 this was expanded to weekly markets, and in 2008 the time was extended.
In 2009 the Market was moved to a new nearby location along a closed-to-traffic
portion of Old Roswell Street and Jones Avenue.
In 2010 the Market moved to the big parking lot next to City Hall on Main Street.
Alpharetta Farmers Market is open to the public. Admission is free. Free parking is available throughout Historic Downtown Alpharetta.
